Elias Saravia joined Berkeley Lab as an Associate Software Developer in March 2021 after his graduation from UC Berkeley with a Bachelor’s in Applied Mathematics and Data Science. He currently assists in the development and of a prototype HVAC using model predictive controls and parametric simulation tools.
He previously worked two years as a Product Manager and Developer at the UC Berkeley Data Science Undergraduate Studies creating data science curriculum for professors from diverse disciples. He taught courses such as Biology, Cognitive Science, and City Planning using Jupyter Notebooks and has impacted over 3,000 students in higher education. He has held industry positions such as a Data Analyst at Squishy Robotics and Data Science Fellow at Alluma.
Elias has been recognized as a leader in technology as a Google Generation Scholar, Code2040 Fellow, NSF LSAMP Research Fellow, and Hispanic Scholarship Fund Scholar.
In 2018, he had the opportunity to Study Abroad in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil through the UCEAP Program where he studied Portuguese and the politics, environment, and culture of Brazil.
