Nihan Karali works as a project scientist at the International Energy Analysis Department of LBNL. Her research is committed to energy efficiency, low carbon resources, and environmental impact. In her interdisciplinary and cross sectoral research areas, she applies tools such as cost benefit analysis, life cycle assessment, forecasting models, optimization and simulation modeling, and advance technology assessment and market adoption to identify robust and sustainable technology and policy pathways to maximize environmental, economic, and societal benefits. She particularly focuses on cooling systems, transportation, and industrial sectors.
Her other topics of interest include circular economy, material efficiency, waste reduction, resilience, sustainable food production, and reindustrialization. She holds a PhD degree in Industrial Engineering Department at the Bogazici University of Turkey.
