Berkeley Lab’s Joe Rand Named in Top 50 Data Changemakers List

Joe Rand, an energy policy researcher in the Energy Markets and Policy Department at Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory (Berkeley Lab), was named in the Top 50 Data Changemakers in the Energy Sector 2025. The list was recently published by Chief Data Officer Magazine. 

The magazine included Rand in “an elite group of innovators who are at the forefront of an industry undergoing seismic change,” an accompanying article said. Rand’s research on U.S. electric grid interconnection queues—in particular, the report Queued Up: 2024 Edition, Characteristics of Power Plants Seeking Transmission Interconnection as of the End of 2023—prompted the recognition.
