Kathryn Chelminski

Kathryn Chelminski is an Energy Policy Researcher III in the Energy Markets and Planning Department at Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory. She conducts research and provides technical assistance on distributed energy resources (DER) interconnection, reliability, distribution system planning, and grid modeling tools. Prior to joining LBL, Kathryn was a Postdoctoral Researcher at Brown University Climate Solutions Lab developing research on barriers to DER interconnection, geothermal deployment, and lithium extraction projects. She previously worked as a Policy Director for the solar, storage and transportation industries, advancing regulations and legislation to catalyze deployment of these technologies. Kathryn was previously appointed to the Board of Directors for several industry associations, including the New York Solar Energy Industry Association, the California Energy Storage Association, and the New England Energy and Commerce Association. Kathryn received her MA and PhD in Political Science/International Relations from the Graduate Institute of International and Development Studies in Geneva, Switzerland. Kathryn has authored articles in peer review journals, a book, and book chapters in edited volumes.
