Kenji Shiraishi

Dr. Kenji Shiraishi is an energy and environmental policy researcher at Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory, focusing on decarbonizing the electricity sector and analyzing climate and energy policies. His work involves advancing energy systems models to assess clean energy technologies and policy options, supporting informed public policy decisions. He holds a Ph.D. in Public Policy from the University of California, Berkeley, and an M.S. and B.S. in Chemical Engineering from the University of Tokyo.

Before coming to the U.S., he gained over 10 years of professional experience in environmental policy in Japan, holding positions such as Deputy Director for Market-Based Climate Policy at Japan’s Ministry of the Environment and Managing Director of the Global Environment Centre Foundation. His expertise encompasses policy development, climate strategy, and international collaboration.
