Solar on Residential New Construction Datasets

Berkeley Lab developed two new datasets of solar installations on new homes:

• Solar New Home Shares: Consists of estimated share of new homes built with solar in each county and state by year, through 2024
• Solar New Home Attributes: Consists of ~450,000 new homes constructed with solar, containing information on: (i) property attributes; (ii) attributes of the home builder, solar installer, and homebuyer; and (iii) solar PV system attributes

Accompanying those data files is a slide deck file entitled Dataset Documentation and Use-Case Examples, which documents the data sources and methodology used to construct these datasets and illustrates potential “use-cases”: i.e., questions that can be answered with these data.
