We develop analytical and experimental methods and tools to assess the technical, economic and market potential of energy technologies, as well as the associated social, economic, health and environmental impacts.
Research +
EAEI researchers provide unbiased, scientific, high quality and innovative research and technical assistance to government agencies in the United States and throughout the world. We help these entities develop long-term strategies, policies and programs that facilitate energy efficiency and the deployment of clean energy technology with minimum environmental and health impacts in all sectors and industries.

New LBNL Report: Energy Efficiency Indicators and Impact Metrics

LBNL is collaborating with ClimateWorks on defining metrics for tracking changes in energy efficiency progress, measuring impacts and assessing strategic opportunities. This report provides a detailed description of the indicators selected. The authors considered a wide range of indicators drawing upon the literature, their own experience and consultation with experts and practitioners. A round table was organized in November 2014 with international and regional experts on energy efficiency to discuss the main challenges in developing metrics for energy efficiency. From this initial process, only a handful of indicators were selected to inform campaign decisions based on identified data sources. This report provides a detailed description of each of these indicators.
