Sam Murthy

Sam Murthy is an Energy Policy Researcher at the Energy Markets and Policy department at Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory. Her research focuses on analyzing the value of demand flexibility resources. Specifically, she works on modeling the impacts of demand flexibility measures across sectors on power system, and customer rates and bills. Currently, she is also conducting research on the power system impacts of industrial electrification in the US. Sam holds a Master's degree in Energy science, technology, and policy from Carnegie Mellon University where she analyzed smart meter data of mini-grid customers in rural Tanzania to segment and characterize them based on electricity purchase patterns. Prior to that, Sam worked at a start-up in Bangalore that analyzed high-resolution data from solar and wind power plants to enhance asset performance.
